Statistics released by VDMA (German Engineering Federation) indicates that China is an important market for Germany-made plastics and rubber processing machinery despite strong competition posed by domestic and foreign suppliers.
Worldwide exports of plastics and rubber machines to China in 2011 was worth more than 2,480 million Euro, an increase of 17.6 percent compared to the previous year.
As exports by the German machinery makers grew at rate far above average, their share in total world exports to China climbed to 30.9 percent. This indicates that German suppliers remain the No. 1 or leading exports of machinery to Chinese processors of plastics and rubber, with a growing distance to the Japanese competitors ranking second.
The most important machinery exporters ranking behind Germany and Japan in 2011 were Taiwan (10.8 percent) USA (5.8 percent) and Italy (5.3 percent).
