Stamping foil and coating specialist Kurz Group used interactive displays to demonstrate its latest foils, substrates and process technology at Chinaplas, with a special focus on the automotive, furniture and electronicssectors.
“We’re focusing not only industrial but also consumer solutions – lots of competencies, inventions and functional design, like those we developed through our partnership with Siemens at PolyIC,” said Francis Lien, market development manager for Kurz.
Kurz and PolyIC have developed a technology for directly applying the transparent, conductive PolyTC films for touch sensors and decorative coatings on the components simultaneously during the injection molding process. The functional PolyTC films and the decorative films from Kurz are integrated into a combined process of inmold labelling (IML) and inmold decoration (IMD). One current application is for automobile consoles.
Mr Lien said growth in the China market for cars and electronics is still growing, and now applicationsfor furniture and interior design are also on the rise. “There is a boom in the hotel industry, the construction industry so we are working with customer in furniture for new finishes and coatings,” he said.
Kurz’s IMD designs come in a wide variety of colours, patterns and structures, such as realistic wood, marble or carbon look. A broad range of true metal coatings are also available.
