THE CHOCOLATE category leads confectionery sales in the United Kingdom, according to the latest report by the Canadean. The UK has the second highest per-capita consumption of confectionery, with the market currently valued at GBP5.3 billion. Signs also point to robust growth in the next five years. The chocolate sector accounts for about two-thirds of confectionery.
The leading brands include Barratt, Chuao Chocolatier, Cadbury, Fairtrade, Jelly Belly, Haribo, Kraft, Mars, Lindt, Mentos Gum, Rowntrees, Nestle, Tangerine Confectionery, Torie and Howard, Tesco, and Wrigley's.
