A CSR project between Chr. Hansen and Oleleshwa Enterprises Ltd aims to upgrade the living conditions of small-scale camel owners through the development of basic knowledge about camel cheese production. In rural Kenya and Somalia camel owners can produce cheese for sales and own consumption. Production will utilise a patented enzyme solution called FAR-M?, an ingredient pioneered by Chr. Hansen, and which makes camel milk shelf stable and tasty.
Through the project, Chr. Hansen will familiarise itself with the industrial production of camel cheese and, possibly pave the way for future commercialisation of FAR-M in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, says Henriette Oellgaard, CSR manager.
