Chr. Hansen introduces a new test kit for detecting antibiotic residues in milk. The Betastar? 4D is the latest amongst the company’s range of antibiotic test kits. These are quite necessary as such residues not only affect the fermentation process, but can cause allergic reactions in consumers. They can even contribute to building antibiotic resistance in bacteria.
Whilst initially aimed at farmers and dairies in Russia – the fifth largest producer of milk – neighboring countries will be able to avail of the company’s test kit, which carries the official Russian GOST approval (state standard).
“We are proud to offer a product that promotes safe foods free of contaminants,” says Ole Madsen, marketing manager, Tests, Chr. Hansen. He said that the test kit will be available globally but with a few exceptions. “We know that countries as far as Latin America export milk powders to Russia, so here the new product will be relevant as well,” he said.
