I. Challenges and Solutions for China's Machine Tool Industry
(Cai WeiCi, Vice Presient of the China Machinery Industry Federation
Shi Yong, Director of the Major Equipment Information Centre)
Summarizing the latest developments during CIMES' press conference Cai WeiCi, Vice Presient of the China Machinery Industry Federation presented the latest figures and forecasts for China's Machine Tool industry:
“The total output value and sales revenue of the industry in 2012 is expected to increase by about 18% over 2011, profits by about 12% and the foreign trade volume by about 15%. In China's machinery industry, the machine tool sector plays a special role as the “prime mover” of the industry. The majority of its orders are from machinery enterprises and its technological level has a special impact on the upgrading of the machinery industry.” (Cai WeiCi, Vice Presient of China Machinery Industry Federation)
Shi Yong, Director of the Major Equipment Information Centre explained during the conference
"With the use up of China's demographic bonus and opening policies, China has lost the low-cost competitive strength. Therefore, speeding up the development of the machine tool industry and the automatic production line of outfits with robots is the inevitable requirement for the participation in the global industrial competition. With the process of becoming a middle income country, if the structure and drive supporting the long-term development of China's economy as well as the systems and strategies remain unchanged, China will be likely to fall into the development trap that the traditional competition strength looses and the new competition strength is not yet formed."
During the "Twelfth Five-year Plan" period, China has to realize the transformation from original equipment manufacturing to independent production, from low-price competition strength to differential competition strategies, from simulation to innovation, from low-end manufacturing to large-scale production, from last process to front-stage design, etc. The keys to this development according to Shi Yong will among others be the" encouragement and establishment of intellectual property alliance to increase the whole competitiveness of China's industry, and counterattacking the external competitions and frictions to avoid the large impact on the industrial security" and the "encouragement of the overseas mergers and acquisitions aiming at improving the technical innovation capacity, and supporting the establishment of gAir Jordan VIII 8
