In his visit to Africa this month, former US president Bill Clinton stopped at the Rwanda Farmers Coffee Company Factory, which was built with assistance from the Clinton Hunter Development Initiative and the National Agriculture Exports Development Board (NAEB).
Accompanied by Rwanda minister of agriculture & animal resources, Agnes Kalibata, permanent secretary Ernest Ruzindaza, and NAEB director general Magnifique Ndambe Nzaramba, Mr Clinton and Global Initiative delegates toured the factory which is directly helping farmers from field to market, to augment their income and add value to products. The project aims to increase premiums for green beans and offers farmers future shareholding of the factory in order to gain control over their products.
The coffee factory is one of several stops in Rwanda. Mr Clinton is also visiting Clinton Global Initiative sites in Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), and South Africa.
