THE worldwide market for cloud-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software for the automotive industry will expand at an 18.23% CAGR from 2014 to 2019, forecasts research firm TechNavio.
This growth will be fueled by increasing demand in the vehicle manufacturing marketplace for cloud-based CFD software, which not only helps reduce costs but also enables easy accessibility and technical computing.
The increasing demand for CFD integrated software is also a result of its ability to improve the efficiency of the product development cycle, the report said. Several vendors already offer the software.
The global CFD market in the automotive industry is expected to witness the development of software such as CAD, CAM, and FEA integrated with CFD software, according to the TechNavio report.
TechNavio vice president Faisal Ghaus said, “The market will see more and more instances of CFD and CAD integrated software, which enables engineers to work on a single geometry, where changes made in one application are directly updated in the other, thus eliminating any data transfer gaps.”
Mr. Ghaus added that by hosting CFD over the cloud, end-users can significantly reduce their operating costs and can also improve the efficiency of the product development cycle.
