CarnaudMetalbox Engineering, a leading provider of canmaking machinery, has appointed Lawrence Corbally as sales manager for Asia. The new position will enable the company to provide better technical expertise to its customers in the region.
Mr Corbally will support regional canmakers in their efforts to improve their canmaking lines and add new machinery such as CMB Engineering’s recently launched Sterling Necker, a multiple-stage die necking system for two-piece aluminum or steel can production.
Since joining CMB Engineering, Mr Corbally has acquired almost three decades of experience with canmaking technology, from the manufacturing process through to installation and commissioning by serving in a range of engineering and customer service roles. Having overseen the manufacturing of canmaking machinery in CMB Engineering’s Shipley plant, he has worked for the last three years as service manager, coordinating global teams of engineers to exceed customer expectations, and developing strong relationships with clients in Asia.
Canmaking sector in Asia expanding
The company has seen strong growth in the canmaking sector in Asia, driven by the rising middle-class in the region (particularly China) and demand for conveniently packaged beverages and foods. “CMB Engineering understands the needs of canmakers in Asia, having worked closely with them as the canmaking sector has experienced sustained growth in the region,” said James Cozier, general manager. “With this new position, our aim has been to create an engineering interface for customers, where we leverage the extensive engineering and customer knowledge held by Lawrence to provide guidance and support to local manufacturers during the sales process.
