The 9th International Fresenius Conference on food contaminants is scheduled from 7 to 8 April 2014 in Mainz/Germany

Packaged food as well as raw materials can inadvertently be contaminated by foreign substances. Where which residues have been detected so far, which health risks arise from the findings and what can be done to prevent substance transfers into food are topics of the 9th Conference "Contaminants and Residues in Food" by Akademie Fresenius. The international meeting for managers, scientists and consultants from the areas of analysis, quality control, development and product safety is scheduled from 7 to 8 April 2014 in Mainz/Germany.

Topics will include those on food contact materials (FCM), (heavy) metals, medicinal and chemical contaminants in food of animal origin, process contaminants and contaminants of natural origin. T2/HT2-toxins, tropane and pyrrolizidine alkaloids and MCPD esters will be discussed.

Current and future developments in EU legislation and meat inspection will also be on the agenda. Other presentations will deal with findings regarding the toxicology of metals and their concentration in fruit juices and rice, with the minimisation of MOSH and MOAH-residues and with the updated EFSA approach concerning safety assessments of residues of FCM.
