Consumers Think Pink at Cosmetics Counters

Move over big red. Pink was the most popular lip and nail color sold in department stores last year, according to The NPD Group.Of the top 125 best-selling new lip color shades to the counter in 2012:

1. 24% of new colors were Pink
2. 20% of new colors were Red
3. 13% of new shades were Nude
4.9% of new shades were Coral
5.8% of new shades were Berry

Of the top 105 best-selling new nail color shades to the counter in 2012:

1.18% of new shades were PINK!
2.16% of new shades were Blue
3.10% of new shades were Purple
4.9% of new shades were Red
5.7% of new shades were Gold
