Continuous conveying for the plastic industry

K-TRON can provide single source solutions for all feeding and pneumatic conveying needs in the plastic industry. A complete system for a continuous plastic process can feature K-Tron loaders and receivers, ideal for many applications, such as hopper loading, refilling loss-in-weight feeders and handling a wide variety of bulk materials in the plastics industry.

 

A variety of discharge valve types including gravity flap, orifice slide gate and butterfly valves come standard on all models. The system can also include K-Tron feeders that specialize in the high accuracy addition of high value minor and micro ingredients to the batch or continuous process. These can be used for dry ingredients as well as liquid additives.

 

Ranges of feeders can free-flowing powders, granules, pellets and other non-flooding materials as well as more difficult sticky or hard-to-flow materials

 

Several stations can be integrated into one complete system. For instance, K-Tron Quick Change Feeder (K2-ML-T35) with ActiFlow is specially designed for applications requiring the maximum possible material handling and changeover flexibility along with the convenience of fast cleaning. The feeder is available in volumetric or loss-in-weight configurations, both as single or twin screw. Single screw units handle free-flowing powders, granules, pellets and other non-flooding materials, while twin screw units control floodable powders and more difficult sticky or hard-to-flow materials. ActiFlow reliably prevents bridging and rat-holing of cohesive bulk materials in hoppers. It is a non-product contact device, consisting of a patent-pending vibratory drive and intelligent control unit. In applications involving difficult flowing materials, this means that mechanical agitators, flexible side-wall agitation devices or aeration pads can be eliminated.
