I
n the previous conference, participants to the Cool Logistics Conference Africa have agreed that logistics costs in Africa are still very high. As many economies are developing fast in the region, the logistical deficiencies are becoming more evident, even in South Africa.
In particular, the perishables logistics sector is one that needs attention not only because of current problems, but has to be recognised as a benchmark for developing and adding value to African economies. The 2nd Cool Logistics Africa Conference to be held in Cape Town on April 16-18, 2013, will revisit some of the challenges discussed in 2012. It will seek to outline practical solutions against a background of changing global trade patterns, evolving agricultural investment patterns, and focus more on first and last mile distribution.
Combining global and regional logistics expertise with local market needs, including intra-Africa trade development for all types of products that require temperature control, Cool Logistics Africa is the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the Cool Logistics Global Conference held each year in Europe.
