Cosmo Films Limited, a leading global speciality firm manufacturing bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), plans to install a new 10.4 meter BOPP line by early 2017. The new production line will be installed at the company's Karjan plant site near Vadodara, which already houses BOPP lines, extrusion coating & chemical coating lines and a metallizer.
The new line that is yet to be installed is the most advanced line available in the market today in terms of its width and output. This high speed line equipped with automated changeovers will lead to an increase in power savings thus maximising overall operational efficiencies. Mr. Pankaj Poddar, CEO, Cosmo Films Ltd said that Cosmo Films anticipates strong demand for BOPP films in the coming years especially from the FMCG sector, hence the company decided to expand its BOPP production capacity.

The output of the production unit is intended for both domestic and export markets. The expansion plans are also aligned with government’s Make in India project which aims at boosting home grown manufacturing companies.
BOPP-films (bi-axially oriented polypropylene films) which offers high strength, elasticity, high barrier properties, resistance to various corrosive environments, and inertness go into making of flexible food packaging, adhesive tapes, labels and lamination applications.
