HONG KONG – The clock is counting down to VINEXPO Asia-Pacific 2012 setting new benchmarks and milestones in the international wines and spirits industry.
VINEXPO is staged annually in alternative years between Bordeaux and Hong Kong. This year it is Hong Kong’s turn, and the world’s largest wines and spirits trade exhibition will take place on 29, 30 and 31 May 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Exhibition space is expanded by nearly 25% to 10,500 sq. m to accommodate 1,050 exhibitors from 28 countries. Attendance of wine & spirits buyers and professionals is also expected to break the record 12,617 visitors attending the last VINEXPO Asia-Pacific in 2010.
The event promises some eye-catching insights into traditional conventions being challenged by both winemakers and distillers.
As befits the leading supplier of wines to Asia, France will be amply represented by its greatest exporting brands, and a French pavilion will accommodate a host of smaller French winemakers. Attendance by Pacific producers will break all records with nearly 50 wineries from Australia and New Zealand. The US will be represented by Californian and State of Washington pavilions, 30 wineries from South Africa are showcased and South American wineries, traditionally led by Chile and Argentina, are this year joined by 15 producers at the Uruguay pavilion.
China’s leading winemaker Dynasty Fine Wines is defying convention on a grand scale – premiering entire barrels of wine! The new Premium Jue Cask Collection of 225-litre barrels – equivalent to 300 standard 750 ml bottles of wine – are promoted as prestigious gifts for corporations and high-end consumers, or a novel way of serving wine at banquets and special occasions.
