THAI agro-industrial conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) said 60 of its 99 poultry farms are now certified with Thai Labor Standard: TLS 8001-2553. It is the first poultry business to acquire Thailand’s standard for labor rights and welfare. CPF aims to accredit all its poultry farms and expects the applications of another 39 farms to be completed this year.
According to Mr Parisotat Punnabhum, CPF Executive Vice President of Human Resources, it is important to give proper treatment to people working in the company’s supply chain.
CPF has in place Good Labor Practice Principles and guidelines for the boiler farms of partners and farmers. For two years now, the company has been conducting workforce audits to ensure all farms comply with the guidelines on workforce management and practices under the GLP as well as international human rights policies.
Besides the poultry farms, five shrimp farms have remained compliant with the Thai Labour Standard for 10 consecutive years, while 87 swine farms are recognized and given honorary ceritfication for their good labor practices from the Ministry of Labor.
