Demand from Syria pushes Lebanese industrial up 6.3%

The Lebanese industry ministry has said the country’s industrial exports have surged by 6.3% in the first three months of 2013, due to high Syrian demand for Lebanese manufactured goods, The Daily Star has reported. The total of exports of manufactured goods in the first three months of this year rose 6.3% to US$859.3 million, compared with US$741.2 million in the same period of last year, the ministry said. Most of the exports shipped to Syria were industrial machineries and metal products, it noted.
