3D Systems (NYSE:DDD) will showcase its next-generation design-to-manufacture solutions at the EuroMold 2014, which will be held from November 25 to 28, 2014 at the Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany. The company’s 3D PRINTING 2.0 solutions will comprise advanced printers, material options, and additions to the design-to-manufacturing digital thread.
The new products will leverage the firm’s Direct Metal Printing (DMP), Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). Besides new advanced materials for new applications, the company will unveil a new suite of 3D software and scanning solutions.
The latest addition to the company’s ProX DMP line is the ProX 400, which boasts the largest build size of any metal 3D printer and factory production features, including automated finishing and a modular design. It features fully dense metal parts to suit high-capacity industrial applications.
Riding on the accuracy, reliability, and precision of 3D Systems’ industry-leading SLA technology, the ProX 800 is designed to boost production efficiency, particularly in automotive, aerospace, medical device manufacturing, and 3D printing service bureaus. The product features a revolutionary print head, material management systems, space-saving footprint, and easy-to-use operator controls.
The ProX 500 Plus adopts the SLS technology and builds on the ProX 500’s superior part quality, precision, and durability. It offers faster print speeds, a higher resolution setting, and an expanded range of new materials, including new glass-filled, aluminum-filled, and nylon materials.
3D Systems is offering five new materials for the ProJet 1200 Micro-SLA 3D printer to expand use in dental labs, jewelers, manufacturers, engineers, and 3D artists. The new FTX Cast and FTX Gold and FTX Silver provide a complete digital prototyping and production workflow for jewelers, while the FTX Gray and FTX Clear broaden the material options for small end-use parts presentation models for engineers and figurines and design creation for 3D artists.
The new materials for the ProJet 5500X allow the unit to create up to 14 unique materials in a single print when combined with the VisiJet white and clear ABS-like plastic print materials. These are designed for expanded versatility for models, functional prototypes, and end-use parts.
The Capture Mini, which is based on the Capture system, is ideal for scanning and inspection of small, precise parts. The Capture Mini and Geomagic software provide a complete digital thread for capture, creation, print, and inspection workflows useful for small mechanical parts, jewelry, and dental models.
3D Systems is also promoting a cloud, desktop application for managing the design-to-manufacture digital thread. It provides seamless efficiency at the different stages of production and allows easy access to the Quickparts on-demand parts service.
The company will also present the 3DMe Photobooth. This compact 3D scanning kiosk comes with an integrated 3DMe figurine application together with e-commerce and fulfillment. It features an easy, self-guided interface and instant face capture.
3D Systems president and CEO Avi Reichental said the new suite of products will support the most demanding manufacturing applications, in particular in the aerospace, automotive, and personalized healthcare, and in the production of high-performance, end-use parts.
“Our 3D PRINTING 2.0 solutions unlock significantly faster product development cycles, seamless content-to-print digital workflows and truly unprecedented part performance, as we continue to lead the field of advanced manufacturing, from the engineer’s desktop to the factory floor,” Mr. Reichental said.
