DORTMUND and MAINZ, Germany - Relevant scientific findings and recent regulatory developments related to food safety will be discussed by industry experts and members of scientific institutes at the 11th International Fresenius Conference ‘Food Safety and Dietary Risk Assessment’ from 20 to 21 February 2013 in Mainz (near Frankfurt), Germany.Conference highlights include the topic on pesticide kinetics and metabolism. Presentations will be made on the evaluation of the toxicological relevance of pesticide metabolites, the application of toxicokinetics as well as the metabolism and interactions of pesticides in human in vitro models. Likewise, news regarding Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) and Codex Maximum Residue Limits (CXLs) will be for discussion. Special topics in this area will include MRLs for agricultural chemicals on and in food exported to Japan.
In the section ‘Risk assessment’ the use of data from new mechanistic-based approaches and a dynamic multi-crop model to characterise pesticide residues in food crops and related health impacts will be at the top of the agenda. Another thematic block will be dealing with ‘Risk communication and public
trust’ - introducing case studies and best practice solutions.
