"We are not selling machines only but we look at a total solution for the customer from application expertise to software solutions, automation as well as service offerings for the whole life cycle of a machine."
– Woody WangManaging DirectorDMG / MORI SEIKI Taiwan
DMG/MORI SEIKI has been active in Taiwan since 1999. With DMG (A Member of GILDEMEISTER group from Germany) and MORI SEIKI (Japan) two worldwide leading manufacturers of machine tools operate in close collaboration. This strategic partnership includes
production, purchasing, research and development as well as sales and services in selected markets.
International Metalworking News for Asia (IMNA) sat down with Mr Woody Wang, Managing Director of DMG / MORI SEIKI Taiwan during the recent TIMTOS exhibition at the Taipei World Trade Centre Nangang Exhibition Hall. Mr. Wang talked about the company’s NVD1500 DCG HSC vertical compact machining centre introduced to Taiwan market for the first time at the show.
IMNA: First, kindly give a brief history of DMG/Mori Seiki (Taiwan)
WANG: DMG / MORI SEIKI have been active in Taiwan since 1999. As from the 1st of July, 2009 the collaboration between DMG Machinery Ltd. and MORI SEIKI (Taiwan) Co. Ltd also started in Taiwan and we moved together into the premises in Taichung City. In this cooperation we are able to offer the closest sales and service network for the most extensive technology offer in Taiwan.
Our office in Taichung City has a total of 10 area sales managers, 15 services, four applications and 10 back offices with managements.
IMNA: What is your main market industry in Asia (Taiwan)?
WANG: In Taiwan the Die & Mould, Aerospace, Automotive, and Machinery industries are specifically strong. This is why we also have industry specific engineering competence incorporated in our local organisations to ensure we can offer the most suitable solutions.
IMNA: Tell us more about your major product highlight at this TIMTOS show.
WANG: We are introducing the NVD1500 DCG HSC for the first time in Taiwan. This
high-precision vertical compact machining centre has achieved revolutionary space savings with a machine width of only 850 mm (33.5 in.). That limited space is packed with various features for high precision, including one of the Mori Seiki’s original technologies of DCG TM (Driven at the Center of Gravity). Its compact body and high-quality machining go beyond the conventional concept of machine tools.
IMNA: What is the target market for this machining centre?
WANG: This machine is developed specifically for precision die and mold manufacturers which machine many die and mold parts and electrodes with a size of less than 100 mm, the NVD1500 DCG uses the highly successful and market proven DCG TM technology to achieve highest precision
and highest speed in its class and improves productivity within space limitations due to its most compact footprint. This meets the requirements for the machining of dies and molds such as IC moulds and connectors, and the machining of precision small parts, such asAccesorios para el running
