DORMA is a family-owned company leading the market in premium access solutions and services. In a recent interview with International Metalworking News – Middle East (IMNE), C. George Philip, Area Marketing Director for DORMA Gulf Door Controls FZE, shared the company’s vision, strategies and its growth prospects going forward.

IMNE: Which products and services does the company specialise on?

PHILIP: We offer total packages around the door; from door hardware to glass fittings through to automatic doors and moveable walls, covering security, time and access control, backed up by a competent team of service and maintenance engineers. Though we have expanded aggressively in recent times to reach out to sales figures of Euro 945 million (US$1.24 billion) in 2010/11 with 6600 employees, we still remain a close knit family, proudly holding 100 years of tradition.

IMNE: How extensive is your supplier and customer network in the region?

PHILIP: It’s our vision to be fully present in strategic markets across the region. This means we ensure that we have well-established dealer and service networks where ever we operate. Given the extensive product portfolio that DORMA has, it becomes difficult to have one dedicated dealer covering the entire product range; hence for each product line we have more than one dealer in each country to service the local needs. DORMA Partners, as what they are termed, are an extension of our family, and they are constantly trained on the DORMA philosophy of quick response, flexibility and adaptability to customer requirements.
