Dormer launches D.Library app

Created to support the recent launch of Dormer’s 2012 catalogue, the free to download app will become a virtual Dormer library featuring not only digital formats of all product literature but also useful reference material.

The new 2012 catalogue is the first to be added to the D.Library, featuring almost 400 solid carbide and high speed steel cutting tools. The additional functionality offered by the app enables the user to select the relevant section, flip through the content page by page, zoom into relevant areas and display images or dimensional tables quickly and easily.

Direct links to contact information for Dormer Tools’ worldwide offices and a wide range of product machining videos on the company’s YouTube channel can also be accessed directly from the app.

The latest edition of Dormer’s universally popular Technical Handbook, planned for launch in autumn 2012, will be added to the library.

Simon Winstanley, Dormer Tools UK marketing manager, said: “The development of the D.Library app will provide a single digital location for all Dormer publications. 

“There will be several updates during the coming months, beginning with Dormer’s new Hydra replaceable head drills brochure and our new corporate presentation. 

“It will be seen as a vital and practical app within the cutting tools industry, offering a global database of the latest product developments, which will be easily accessible anywhere, anytime.”

Future developments include launching a version for android devices, a text search function and additional language versions. 

 It is the latest app to be launched by Dormer. In May 2011 the company unveiled the ‘Dormer Tools Threadsize Calculator’ which helps engineers and machinists quickly and accurately select the optimum drill diameter needed to create a thread. 

 Dormer plan to launch a third app later in the year. The ‘Product Selector’ app will promote increased productivity and efficiency by giving users personalised advice on the best cutting tool and operating parameters for their specific application.  For more information visit www.dormertools.com.
