Egyptian plastics manufacturers to establish partnerships with Jordanian counterparts

Egyptian plastic manufacturers are looking at establishing partnerships with Jordanian companies to expand market reach.  This was announced during a press conference in preparation for the international exhibition for plastic industries to be held in Amman on October 8-10.  

Mr. Hamed Mousa, President of the Egyptian Plastic Exporters and Manufacturers Association (EPEMA) said that Egyptian plastics manufacturers want to enter the Jordanian market not as competitors, but as partners as they aim to work hand in hand with Jordanian partners to expand market in the Kingdom to curb imporation of plastics from outside the region.  Egyptian plastics manufacturers are eyeing joint investments with Jordanian manufacturers to enter the markets of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

The value of plastic production in Egypt reached about $10.6 billion last year, with exports  worth $1.3 billion. The country’s plastics industry is expected to achieve 22% growth paving the way for its move towards other markets. About 25% of the exports go to Turkey.

Raw materials production in Egypt has also been robust with petrochemical and polypropylene industries expected to attract investments worth $12 billion in the next two years.
