Manufacturing Technology World (MTW) Series -- the biggest and most diversified technology, machinery, and automation exhibition and business conference in the Philippines welcomed visitors on 6-9 October 2010 at the SMX Convention Center on a bright note with more exhibitors. Now on its 17th year, Manufacturing Technology World remains the Philippines' largest trade show focusing on addressing the needs of the local manufacturing sector in its bid to become globally competitive. Covering more than 9,000 sq. m. of exhibition space, the show incorporated several key sectors through its sub-shows, namely Automechanic Philippines (Auto Parts & Accessories), Enviro-Tech (Environmental Management), Food Packaging & Refrigeration Philippines, Metal & Hardware Philippines, Philtronics (Electronics & Semiconductor), Plastics Philippines, Print & Label Philippines (Printing & Graphic Arts), and Woodmach Philippines (Woodworking & Furniture-making). "Bringing together these top eight industries under one roof gives trade buyers across different industries a wide array of choices. This is particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs who are in need of products, services or technologies that can be applied to various types of businesses. No other show can represent every aspect of the manufacturing sector like this show does. This is the reason why after 17 years, this is still the most sought after industrial show in the country," says Mr. Patrick-Lawrence Tan, CEO of the event organiser Global-Link MP Events International, Inc. This year, over 30,000 products, machines, and services for the manufacturing industry were showcased by 847 companies from local and international origins. This figure was a substantial increase from the 532 exhibitors recorded in 2009. With the higher number of exhibitors, the organiser expanded the exhibition space to 9.100 sq.m. Total number of visitors also rose to 17,972 from the 13,082 registered in 2009. Special pavilions from Taiwan, China and Singapore were also present. Given the resurgence in manufacturing activities, the exhibitors reported total sales of $19.8 million closed during the show, up from the $11.6 million achieved in 2009. This reflects the growing confidence on the Philippine economy which benefits from the new government of recently elected President Benigno Simeon Aquino III. The Philippine industrial sector has been showing signs of recovery from the global recession as reflected in higher investment inflows, better trade performance and improved fiscal position. Aside from presenting the widest range of production and processing machineries as well as technologies, the MTW 2010 also featured more than 70 technical seminars, workshops and product presentations.
