The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz Universit?t Hannover and the Machining Innovation Network e. V. invite to the conference “New Production Technologies in Aerospace Industry” at EMO Hannover 2013.

“Qualified visitors from all over the world can look forward to a first-class program and high profile keynote speeches this year”, says Professor Berend Denkena, director of the Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools Machining and board member of the Machining Innovation Network. The plenary speakers include Bernard North (Vice President Industrial Technology, Kennametal Inc.), Dr.-Ing. Rainer Martens (CTO, MTU Aero Engines Holding), Dr.-Ing. Gerald Weber (CEO MAG Europe) and Michael Colberg (COO, Premium Aerotec GmbH), which report on issues such as materials research, new technologies for production ramp-up and efficient planning processes. For the evening event on 18 September the organizers could win Reijnen Beard, Vice President of Orbital Systems & Space Exploration, EADS Astrium Bremen. He talks about the challenges of today's astronautics.

Further 26 experts from industry and academia present current challenges, outline possible approaches and discuss changes in the industry on two half-days on 18 and 19 September 2013 at the fairgrounds. New machine concepts, automation solutions and the optimal use of the CAD-CAM chain are the focus on both days in two parallel sessions. For the first time an entire session is devoted to research in aerospace industry. Scientists present current topics in eight lectures and 20 poster presentations.

Professor Denkena expedites this interaction deliberately: “Ideas and problem-solving skills in research, the challenges in the field and the enormously powerful actors in the production technology - they need each other, and they need a common platform for an intensive, current exchange.” For the past 13 years the conference has shown how important and productive this exchange is, even beyond Germany: About 180 expert participants from twelve countries attended the event in 2012. “Like almost no other sector, the aerospace industry depends and relies on innovation. However, the required innovation can only be achieved if the researchers and suppliers understand and accept these challenges”, Hans-Georg Conrady, deputy chairman of the board of the Machining Innovations Network explains the continued success.
