A dvanced injection moulding technologies that are energy-saving and highly efficient–specifications that top the list of requirements of Korea’s dynamic industries like automotive and electronics manufacturing–impressed visitors who attended the 22nd Korea International Plastics and Rubber Show (KOPLAS) held at KINTEX from March 12–16.

The highly successful edition, which exceeded previous editions’achievements and organisers’expectations, gathered 303 local and international companies serving the plastics and rubber industry. International companies numbered 219 as against 84 local companies. A significant number of exhibitors presented their solutions – all aimed at meeting market demand for improved output, material and energy costs reduction for an overall sustainable production.

Visitor registration totalled 67,025 with 1,421 overseas buyers. According to the figures released by KOPLAS organiser, Korea E&Ex Inc., total contracted purchases during the show’s duration reached $750 million.

True to its purpose, the exhibition remains Korea’s most important platform committed to serving the fast-growing plastics and rubber industry through its outstanding range of products and concurrent events. This edition was held with two other events – International Korea Mold & Die Show (INTERMOLD KOREA 2013) and  Heating, Air-Conditioning,  Refrigeration  and  Fluid Exhibition (HARFKO Show 2013).

The exhibition also brought together local and international professionals in its series of conferences which featured technical and market updates on a wide range of topics – from the use of the latest technologies to the application of new materials in such industries as automotive, electronics,  packaging and medical products manufacturing.

The International Conference, “The  Polymeric  Material Expected for the Future Car”highlighted the importance of material solutions as demanded by automobile manufacturing. The series of special conferences under the theme “New Technologies and Future Prospect of Eco-Friendly Plastic Material and Injection Moulding”organised by KITA in tandem  with  KOPLAS organiser, Korea E&Ex Inc., attracted a large number of professionals who looked at these conferences as an excellent venue to learn and interact with other professionals and technical experts.

With the fast-paced growth in Korea’s plastics and rubber production, future KOPLAs editions are expected to launch more features that will meet this globalised industry’s more towards advanced technological processes and sustainable production. The next KOPLAS edition is scheduled in April 2015.
