EnerPlastics LLC, a leading Dubai-based company specializing in the production of masterbatches for the plastics industry, has entered into an agreement with Dubai Cares to adopt a school in Gaza - Palestine, as part of Dubai Cares’ “Adopt a School” initiative. The agreement was signed by Aman ur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of EnerPlastics and Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares.
The “Adopt a School” initiative by Dubai Cares aims to provide organizations and individuals in the UAE with opportunities to play an integral role in improving the educational infrastructure and literacy standards in Gaza and/or the Far Western Region of Nepal.
Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: “In Gaza, less than a third of the children are enrolled in preschools, of which, most are poorly constructed and ill-equipped. Through this initiative we are giving the UAE community the opportunity to support us in reaching out to these children, providing them with the necessary educational infrastructure and learning environment, and preparing them for primary and secondary school at the very least. We are grateful to organizations such as EnerPlastics who have come forth and supported our initiative.”
Mr. Aman ur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of EnerPlastics said: “We are delighted to be associated with this Dubai Cares’ initiative, as part of our commitment to fulfilling our social responsibilities towards the UAE and the region as a whole. Through this partnership, we hope to inspire others in the UAE to support Dubai Cares and its various education programs, thereby enhancing the image of the UAE as a country that not only cares for its people but also for those in need in other countries.”
In Palestine, very few young children in Gaza and the West Bank have access to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programs and services. Hence the Dubai Cares’ program targets parents and children in the fields of education, health, nutrition, protection and sanitation. It involves upgrading and equipping pre-schools with the necessary infrastructure, in addition to assisting with teacher training and literacy promotion for children.
Dubai Cares’ efforts in Gaza reflected the theme of its 2013 Ramadan campaign, “End Poverty. Educate Now.”, which ran throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan to spread awareness of the importance of education, as one of the most effective tools to break the cycle of poverty. The campaign also aims to raise funds for improving children’s access to education in developing countries.
EnerPlastics LLC also recently participated in Dubai Cares' "Burj of Giving" initiative, by donating AED 50,000 in support of child education in developing countries. The initiative raised AED 1 million in total through the sale of twenty miniature replica of Burj Khalifa structures painted by eminent Emirati artists. As a consistent supporter of philanthropic causes, EnerPlastics has also been involved in assisting the poorest in the community in terms ofFemme
