Any brand that sells cosmetic or personal care products in the EU won't be allowed to test them on animals, anywhere in the world, according to a proposed ban which go into effect on March 11, 2013.

All animal testing on cosmetic products will be banned in the EU. According to a proposed ban which go into effect on March 11, 2013, any brand that sells cosmetic or personal care products in the EU won't be allowed to test them on animals, anywhere in the world. It includes nearly all types of beauty, skin, hair care and personal hygiene products - from makeup to soap and toothpaste.

The Body Shop, along with the non-profit organization Cruelty Free International have campaigned for twenty years in support of this ruling. The Body Shop has never tested its products on animals. In celebration, the retailer will be hosting a range of commemorative activities during the countdown to March 11th.

Activists hope the proposed ban will send a strong message worldwide in support of cruelty free beauty - especially to countries such as China, which demands animal testing for cosmetics.
