Hanoi's industrial sector is rapidly attracting investments from both local and foreign investors. With gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 9.8% yearly and a population of 3.3 million, Hanoi boasts of 1.5 million working-age people and number of skilled people in Vietnam. Hanoi's economy recovered starting the first quarter of 2010 with agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture, as well as industry and construction experiencing the highest increases since the global financial crisis.
These are ideal premises for the holding of the 7th Vietnam International Plastic & Rubber Industry Exhibition (VietnamPlas Hanoi 2011) which is scheduled to take place in this city from 19 - 22 April 2011 at the Giang Vo Exhibition & Fairground.
Aside from the inflows of huge investments, industries are also importing machineries and raw materials to spur industrial activities. While the Vietnamese plastics industry can only meet domestic demand for now, investments pouring in to finance the establishments of new operations or expansion of existing businesses are seen as impetus for growth.
Aside from plastics, Vietnam's rubber industry is also expected to recover with exports projected to grow by as much as 20% to $1.5 billion in 2010 alone. Increased demand for natural rubber from such major importers as China, India and Malaysia, will push up prices up by 30%. Vietnam's export of rubber is rising to reach 750,000 tonnes yearly. Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast that Vietnam's total rubber latex output to grow by 7% to 770,000 tonnes in 2010.
The last edition of the VietnamPlas Hanoi was attended by over 8,600 visitors, and this year, the show is expected to attract at least 10,000 visitors with 300 booths occupied by 180 companies. Products to be exhibited include: plastic blending machinery, blow moulding machines, extruding machines, plastic compounding equipment, plastic cutting machines & cutters, die cutting & casting machines, plastic dryers & mould heaters, injection moulding equipment, mould cleaning equipment, spin casting equipment, thermoforming machines, plastics & rubber raw materials, auxiliary equipment, machinery parts & accessories, rubber blending machines, rubber mixing & refining machines, rubber product moulding equipment, flat plate vulaniser, press & moulding equipment for rubber, quality detection instrument & equipment, measuring & detection equipment, temperature controller & components, electronic automatic instruments, and monitoring device, amongst others.
The show is organised by the Ministry of Industry & Trade, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development (MARD), Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology (VAFoST), Federation of Institutes of Food Science and Technology in ASEAN, Food & Foodstuffs Association (FFA), Vietnam Packaging Association (VINPAS) and Vietnam Plastics Association (VPA)
Vietnam as one of the world's biggest economies
Vietnam is slated to become the world's 14th biggest economy by 2050 -- with GDP's growth rate at 8.8% - the highest in the world - according to the forecast of UK-based PricewaterhouseCoopers. The country is projected to achieve GDP valued at $3,939 billion by 2050. Taking into account price differences amongst countries, this will place Vietnam in the league of developed nations such as Italy, Canada, Spain and South Korea.
