Expanded test center boosts Rapid's engineering capability

Rapid, a leading size reduction equipment specialist, has expanded its test facilities at its headquarters in Bredaryd, Sweden. The expansion forms part of a strategic investment by Rapid’s new owner, LIFCO, right after it acquired the company at the beginning of this year.

The facility now has an additional 500 sq.m. of space from its existing test area. This expanded the total space to over 1100 sq.m. and now houses granulators of all sizes. Most of the test area also has a ceiling height of 9 meters. “With all this added floor space, together with the extra height for cranes, we can build up and test complete production systems right here in our headquarters,” according to Dr. Toni Reftman, CEO of Rapid Granulator AB.

Rapid's new developments will now be tested and verified without any interference in the company's manufacturing processes, Dr. Reftman stressed. This will give an important boost to the company's engineering capability and also to its sales force, who can now take an active part in the development process.

The expanded test center has multiple capabilities: in addition to carrying out acceptance tests with customers and verification tests for new applications, it will also be used for research and development on new innovations.  The test center will also serve as a hands-on education center for the Rapid sales team, its distribution network and customers, providing a key element in the company’s reinforced focus on product development and customer service.
