Given the global economic slowdown, what has your exports performance been like recently?
We started developing our overseas business a decade after we formed the company in Taiwan in 1982, and I'm proud to say that we have built up a good reputation in Asia and our export sales volumes have risen annually. We have been able to develop the overseas business in South East Asia, such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Viet Nam, and other regions in the following years, step by step. At the same time, we spread our service range from food & beverage processing to, amongst others, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, chemistry, electronics, ceramics, painting, plastics, and water recycling.
Does this export business expansion include India? Aren't you concerned about the local competition there?
We understand that a number of manufacturers in India focus on price issue first, then on quality. However, we also believe that there are prospective customers who treat unique quality as the top priority when developing a project. We intend to suggest and demonstrate that they need only to pay a slightly higher machine cost, but also create much more profit than they can expect with our range of machinery. Certainly, there are similar machines supplied by the local manufacturers; however, when people try Guan Yu machines, they'll realise what the real sieving efficiency and accuracy is! This is why we are looking for a good agent in India, who will open our supply channel and let people comprehend the differences.
Which are the major end-users of your technologies within the Food and Beverage industry?
We supplied our vibratory separators and iron removers to various segments of the F&B industry in South East Asia, Taiwan and China: instant noodles and instant soups, such as Nissin Foods and Uni-President; Kraft Foods and their cookie-making unit, Classy Kiss; fast-food operators like McDonald's; beverages, such Nestlé's Nestea and Coca-Cola, as well as many food processing and juice suppliers in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. Now we are exploring the markets in South Africa, Germany, the UK, and as mentioned earlier, India.
What competitive edge do you bring to the market that has made you succeed in so many regions?
Our Group is equipped with modern facilities for research & development, manufacturing and inspection. We don't stand still, constantly improve our products, manufacturing processes, such as when we shifted to an automatic production system, and monitor systems. All our machines are assembled and delivered to the customers to the highest standard. We have cutting-edge technologies, the practical experience, and enthusiastic staff, all of which make us stand out through innovation and progression. We strive to maintain this reputation for reliability to keep us at the leading position in the global market, and continuously improve our core technology and competence in R&D and manufacturing to provide strong support for our clients.
What are some of the products that you plan to launch in these new and markets?
Guan Yu has developed a wide range of machines used in many industries all over the world, and as part of our R&D strategy, our development team is always innovating new machinery. This is the reason why we can offer custom-built machinery and technical solutions to fulfil customers' requirements.
One of our most recent developments "high frequency" and "F type" series of separators that have been designed specifically for viscous materials like syrups, sauces and chocolates. Now, we can also supply ultrasonic equipment for very lightweight and fine powder, which regul
