Brazilian food exports to Arab countries amounted to US$10.6 billion in 2011, according to the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). This accounts for a big chunk of the country's total food exports of $80 billion. Major products entering the Middle East are sugar, meats and cereals as well as citrus, coffee, beans, wheat and poultry.
Trade relations between Brazil and Arab countries are supported by events such as those organised by the ABCC in co-operation with Apex Brasil. In July, ABCC held the Food Sector Buyer 2012 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, which was attended by a good number of companies from the Middle East.
