Extended applications for rPET

FROM now on food and ready-prepared meal packaged in containers made of up to 100% recycled PET (rPET) produced on VACUREMA recycling systems can be cooked or heated to temperatures above 120癈 (250癋), whether in a microwave or conventional oven. VACUREMA PET recycling systems produce rPET have been approved by the US FDA approval for Category 'J' food contact substances that can be heated to temperatures exceeding 250癋. The systems already have approvals for the FDA Categories 'C' to 'H', which means, hot filled above 65癈, ambient filling and storage, and refrigerated and frozen storage with no thermal treatment in the container. Two independent institutes (Fraunhofer and Keller & Heckman) confirm these applications. This means that not only new customers but also existing owners of these recycling machines from EREMA GmbH (Austria) will now benefit from the extended scope of possibilities for the rPET pellets produced by the systems.
