This story tells of Tianyuan’s experience in choosing new technology for its expansion plans.
Founded in 2001, Tianyuan is a Chinese specialty manufacturer in the mold and die industry, dedicated to producing fixtures, check fixtures and tooling components. Main products developed at the facility include automotive fixtures, aircraft fixtures, aircraft assembly frames, automotive check fixtures and motorcycle welding fixtures, which vary greatly in size — ranging from 300cm to tens of meters.
While it is based in Chengdu, the company serves customers from automotive and aerospace industries across the country, including Ford, Toyota, Suzuki, Volvo, Chongqing Qingling, ABB, Chengdu Aircraft Manufacturing, Xi’An Aircraft Manufacturing and Chongqing Jianshe Yamaha Motor (CJYM).
Speaking the Same Language: Quality
Right from the beginning, Tianyuan recognized the importance of quality management in its business. As the business gained momentum, the company managed to secure contracts with several big players from the automotive and aerospace industries, raising the emphasis on maintaining quality standards further.
When Tianyuan first learnt about FARO, it was through one of its customers. Mr. Chen Donghui, Head of Quality Department at Tianyuan revealed, “We knew that most of our customers relied on FARO’s devices for their inspection needs, so we decided to find out more. After thorough evaluation, it made perfect sense for us to speak the same language as they do by using the same standards.”
For this reason, Tianyuan decisively invested in a 4-f t FaroArm? Platinum to address its measurement needs very early on. Subsequently, the company purchased another 4-ft FaroArm? Platinum and a FARO? Laser Tracker X to handle its growing requirements. These three FARO devices largely expanded the company’s collection of testing and inspection equipment, each playing a unique role that existing traditional tools (e.g. tape measure, vernier calipers, marking gauge) could not fulfill.
Tianyuan first learnt about FARO through one of its customers, and now uses three FARO devices daily.
Improved Measurement Capabilities
Utilized for up to four hours daily, FARO’s devices have become a vital part of Tianyuan’s operations. The newly adopted technology has enabled the company to better meet its customers’ stringent quality requirements.
The FaroArm typically handles the smaller jobs (<1.5m), and is mainly used in the later stages of fixture iAir Max 90 VT QS
