HONG KONG -- The first-ever China Spirits Awards will take place this year alongside China Wine Awards. To be held in Hong Kong this September, China Spirits Awards is the only spirits competition bringing in a judging panel of top–tier spirits buyers from Greater China. A hundred carefully selected China-based wine and spirits buyers, including importers, distributors, wholesalers, restaurant group owners and sommeliers will judge on consumer preferences tastes and trends.
“These buyers are the ones who are in Greater China finding out what their consumers will want to drink and what will really sell,” said Kelly England, founder of the China Wine Awards. “As interests for spirits grow, this is the time for producers to find out what will and won’t work in this increasingly lucrative industry.”
Entries for China Spirits Awards and China Wine Awards are flooding in from all over the world, and entries from wine producers, spirit producers and distributors are still being accepted.
Spirits that have already entered include: Mt. Nathan Ye Old Liqueur (Au), Reposado Tequila (MX), Portrait Winemakers and Distillers (HK), Jaan-Paan Liqueur (CA), Glen Silvers (UK) and Tequila Tres Sombreros (MX). China Wine Awards are the most coveted awards in the trade and are heralded by wine and spirits buyers and consumers across Greater China.
During the competition an exclusive exhibition will also take place during which wine and spirits producers will personally present their products to these influential buyers and trade guests. The new competition also aims to help producers gain a better understanding of the Chinese wine and spirits market, especially consumer tastes and trends. The results from the event also act as a vital guide for Chinese consumers, helping them select wines and spirits suited to their taste and price range.
