NEW YORK- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation is bringing a taste of authentic Malaysian food to New York City in a two-day street food feast. Through its campaign, Malaysia Kitchen for the World, it will host the first Malaysian Winter Market, at Bryant Park's Fountain Terrace on February 20-21, 2013.
The area by the Park’s fountain and skating rink will be transformed into street markets similar to those in Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Restaurants and vendors from New York City and the Tri-State area will showcase Malaysian dishes and food products. Chef demonstrations and special performances by Malaysian dance troupe will accompany the food extravaganza.
The Malaysian Winter Market will be open to the public. Food from featured restaurants, including Fatty Crab, Laut, Nyonya, Penang, New Malaysia, Bentara, and 'wichcraft, and Brooklyn-based supper club Auria's Malaysian Kitchen, will be on sale for $4 to $8 each day for lunch from 11:30am – 2:30pm (or until sold out) and dinner from 5:30pm – 9:00pm. Vendors such as Duane Reade will also sample traditional Malaysian food products, from noodle bowls to breads, some of which will be available for sale.
