Five-facebridge type vertical machining centre

Specialists in bridge machines, Yama Seiki’s LP-2516YF has a table load capacity of 17,460 pounds.  X-axis travel is 98 inches, Y-axis is 75 inches and Z-axis is 30 inches.  It also features an automatic tool and head changer, as well as an optional 60-tool magazine.“We are one of the few manufacturers in Taiwan to have the technology to produce this type of five-face machining center,” explained Michael Yang, president, Yama Seiki USA, Inc.  “Our quality is comparable to Japanese machines, but at about 60 percent of the cost.”
Applications for the five-face bridge mill include the automotive industry, aerospace and oil industry.  Because of its capacity, other machine tool builders also use the machining center to build their own products.
The efficiency and accuracy of the LP-2516YF are advantages for users.  “Because you don’t have to move the part being machined or change set-ups, this vertical machining center is probably five times more efficient in parts set up,” said Yang.  “Plus, you’re not repositioning the part, so accuracy is improved.”
