JEC Group, the world’s leading professional organization for the composite materials sectors, is announcing another exceptional JEC Asia Composites Show and Conferences for its 7th annual session, celebrating Singapore as “Country of Honor”.

Two Singaporean champions of composites will receive a JEC Innovation Award, the prestigious program promoting best composites innovation breakthroughs: Hope Technik, in the Compression Molding category; and Republic Polytechnic, in the Academic category.
Tong-Earn Tay, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS will also receive a Life-Achievement Award.
“Singapore has developed a very innovative approach in the academic field to expand a talents base that meet the needs of industry, and establishes itself as an R&D hub. This is a strong competitive advantage for industrial companies and businesses,” said Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group president and CEO.
The Live Demo Zone and the Innovation Corner will indeed showcase composite parts and products, among which the Singaporean Universities’ projects in automotive will be well represented: Race car from the National University of Singapore’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (NUS FSAE); SunSPEC 3 solar car from Singapore Polytechnic; and Electric EVA Car, specifically designed as a taxi for tropical megacities, with a monocoque structure made entirely of carbon fibre reinforced polymer.
The Electric Eva Car is developed by TUM Create, the joint research program between Technische Universit?t München (TUM) in Germany and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.
The 4 times Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost will enable registered visitors to discover automotive innovations in a different way on November 19. A debate on High-Tech Composites in Automotive and Achievement will follow at 1.30 p.m.
