JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – Monitoring food products manufactured and marketed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the General Authority for Food and Drug Administration has made it mandatory for importers and local companies to include nutritional data labels on all their food products.
Data should include percentages of calories, carbohydrates, proteins, fats and other information that relevant to the health and safety of consumer. Products that do not comply with food regulations are not allowed to enter the market. Manufacturers are given six months to comply, and warned that the measures against violators will be taken as of the 9th of Muharram.
