Food safety app gets 18,000 downloads

The Safe Food Healthy Business app is designed for food handlers, managers and proprietors of food businesses. Created by environmental health graduates, Michael O Rourke and Emer Murphy, it provides the following data: best practices for food handlers; how to deal with a food poisoning outbreak; pest control identification and elimination; the latest ‘food alerts’; how to set up a domestic and commercial food business; guidance on allergen management in the food business; guidance on E. coli O157 management; and HACCP templates for complying with food safety law.

Updated in July, the Safe Food Healthy Business app has been downloaded some 18,000 times, according to Emer Murphy. He said, the app is popular in Asia, Australia, the UK, Ireland and the USA, due to the increase of food alerts worldwide.
