HIGHER Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi has launched a full scholarship programme designed for food safety inspectors interested in pursuing an advanced degree in their professional field, Gulf News has reported. The scholarship for the Bachelor of Science in Food Safety programme, part of the memorandum of understanding between the HCT, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), will provide enhanced specialisations for the current 30 Emirati recipients.
The objectives of this project are to develop specialised technical courses in Food Control for the first time in the region and in line with the highest quality criteria and the latest training methods and curricula.
"The fruitful cooperation with the ADFCA since 1997 resulted in approximately 200 graduate students in required specialised programmes such as Food Inspection, Environmental Health, and Food Laboratories," said HCT vice chancellor, Dr Tayeb A. Kamali.
To qualify for the scholarship, food safety inspectors are required to provide documentation that they completed three years of study, in addition to a foundation year, and approximately three years of work.
