AS A PART of a global effort to promote food security and agricultural development in Africa, the Food University initiative was launched by the ImagineAfrica Alliance and the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) on 25 September. This “field-to-fork” project aims to create sustainable jobs and a skilled workforce across Africa’s food value chain by developing a talent pool to match supply and demand skills. Combining the efforts of the private, public and civil society sectors, the project will offer educational opportunities to one million students over the next 10 years. Pilot campuses will be set up in Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa and Tanzania, in the next two years.
