The award recognizes the contribution of the company’s Drink.Move.BeStrong campaign in addressing nutrition and health concerns in Southeast Asia

FRIESLANDCAMPINA’s Drink.Move.BeStrong campaign has recently won the Gold Award at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards 2015.

The prestigious business award lauds the company for the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year and its contribution to society through its nutrition-education campaign. FrieslandCampina’s Drink.Move.BeStrong program is the first integrated activation and advocacy campaign in Southeast Asia that aims to address the double burden of malnutrition among children in the region. It encourages children to drink one glass of milk a day and exercise for one hour a day outdoors

The campaign currently runs in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. It involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including schools, educators, parents, government agencies, ministries, and the Junior NBA.

FrieslandCampina, one of the world's top five dairy companies, conducted the most extensive nutrition study ever done in Southeast Asia in 2012. The results of the South East Asia Nutrition Survey, which included about 17,000 children from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia under age 12, revealed under- and over nutrition, and critical nutrition deficiencies such as severe lack of calcium, Vitamin D, and other micronutrients among respondents. The findings paved the way for the Drink.Move.Be Strong program, a call to action to encourage children to lead healthier and more active lifestyles. It advocates the value of milk in helping to meet the nutritional requirements of children and sports as a vehicle to promote an active life.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are the only business awards program that recognizes achievements in the workplace in all 22 nations of the Asia-Pacific region. The 2015 awards comprised more than 400 nominations from organizations across the region.

According to Piet Hilarides, chief operating officer Consumer Products Asia, "I am very proud of our win at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards 2015. The Gold Award recognizes the great contribution and efforts of our team and partners in addressing an increasingly important social issue that affects millions of people in the region. As one of the world's leading dairy companies, we believe that FrieslandCampina can play a critical role in improving the well-being of our consumers in the region through our focus on a multi-stakeholder approach to Corporate Social Responsibility."
