Ecodry 3DK, a closed loop adiabatic liquid cooler, reduces water use by up to 95% vs. a cooling tower
GUANGZHOU, China -- Process cooling specialist Frigel is showcasing liquid cooling systems at Chinaplas 2015, which it says will save up to 95% in water usage compared to a conventional cooling. The system, Ecodry 3DK, is designed to work in virtually any climate including demanding temperatures in Southeast Asia and Southern China.

Benjamin Sutch, president of Frigel Asia Pacific, said more and more plastic manufacturers are requiring efficient cooling systems like the Ecodry 3DK in order to improve their productivity while keeping costs manageable. "There is a lot of water use wastage and energy wastage with some existing systems, which can be using 70-year-old technology that can't keep with the demand that these manufacturers need to deal with," he explained.

"These operations can no longer get away with low-cost cooling systems that aren't doing anything for their productivity," he added.

Systems from Frigel (Hall 4.2  Booth P17) not only address efficient cooling with reduced water consumption, but also keep water free of impurities such as mineral that can wreak havoc on equipment. In addition to improved water consumption, energy use can also be reduced between 20 and 30 percent.

How it works: Frigek Ecodry 3DKWith no evaporation of process water, the Ecodry 3DK keeps process water clean and equipment scale-free. It often operates without consuming any water – activating the adiabatic system only on hotter days to pre-cool incoming air, and greatly reducing chemical requirements and completely eliminating chemical discharges

"Conserving water, preserving the environment and improving sustainability are big concerns in China and the rest of Asia, and we help address that with our systems," Mr. Sutch said.

Frigel's sales in APAC have quadrupled in less than four years, prompting the Italian company to invest in $7-million facility in Thailand, which will serve the region's requirements. The company has also opened a satellite office in Australia.

China is in its Top 3 markets in the region. The Philippines, where manufacturers are dealing with runaway energy costs, is shaping up to be another leading market for Frigel.
