Frozen bakery market to reach $32.5bn by 2018

THE frozen bakery market is set to grow to $32,505.2 million by 2018, with a CAGR of 7.1%, as stated in the latest report from MarketsandMarkets. Demand continues to grow with convenience (easy to prepare and longer life span compared to fresh baked products) as a major factor. In terms of types, frozen pizza crust dominates followed by frozen breads. Speciality and continental frozen bakery products such as rolls, teacakes, scones, and other products, are growing in popularity.

Retail distribution is the largest channel opted by market players. Supermarkets and hypermarkets comprise a larger percentage than artisan bakers. They capture a large share of the market by selling different products made by chief plant bakeries at low prices. They have also introduced in-store bakeries producing speciality baked products. The growth of coffee shop chains selling frozen bakery products has also increased the competition for other bakery outlets.
