BREMEN, Germany - Packaging – especially food packaging – is generally something which is taken for granted ... until it disappoints us, which in turn has a long-term negative impact on the product, brand and company behind the brand, according to a study conducted by the Cox School of Business (USA). 80% of those surveyed claim to have been annoyed, frustrated or even enraged by packaging at some stage. The reasons: Packaging was difficult to open and/or only by using a tool, was susceptible to breaking or tearing, could not be re-closed, failed to keep the product fresh, caused injury while opening or simply too much packaging was used. The hit list of packaging which is hated most includes plastic bags which either tear apart when being opened or can only be opened "using a soldering iron", packaging with ring-pull closures which rip off instead of opening, multi-layer foil lids which crack, tear strips which tear off instead of open, exterior packaging such as foil which does everything except let itself be easily removed – all of these things drive consumers mad, according to the study which was also published on Facebook and called for additional consumer opinions and comments on this issue. Only one type of packaging seems to have exclusively positive attributes and generate the corresponding comments: resealable packaging and closures which succeed in keeping the product fresh, edible and genuine for a long time.

It can be assumed therefore that glass jars are very popular. Particularly when the closures are free of PVC and consumers can be sure that there are no interactions between the contents and the closure seal. As is possible using our PVC-free PROVALIN? closure seal.

As the world's first and to date only sealant compound free of PVC and plasticisers, PROVALIN? was developed for all types of metal vacuum closures. Meanwhile, there are ten different variants for the multiple requirements concerning contents, sealing processes, storage and closure sizes.

For Twist-Off? closures e.g. PROVALIN? 1241: for products with high oil/fat contents such as pesto. This variant of sealant solution based - like all variants - on thermoplastic elastomers is suitable for hot filling and sterilisation. Comprehensive long-term tests are available for this original variant of the PROVALIN? family which point out, that the migration limits are maintained even after the best-before dates for food containing oil. Variant 1269: sealant compound for cold filling and storage. On account of the great demand for PVC-free systems in the area of watery and pickled contents, spreads etc., some of which require filling under special conditions, the 1269 variant was developed. Variant 1245: for fat-free or low-fat foods such as preserved fish. Suitable for both hot-filling and pasteurisation as well as for cold-filling and cold-storage. Variant 1288: for all types of contents. Suitable for hot-filling, pasteurisation and stAir Max 90 Ultra Moire
