GAINCO’s recently launched YieldScan TM Rapid Frame Analyzer is designed to boost manual and automated processing line performance and productivity.
The YieldScan is a plant-floor QC solution that monitors actual real-time performance to provide an analysis of the deboning process toward making poultry operations more efficient. It uses vision analysis of frames coming off the processing line to obtain data on the relative amount and location of residual meat on a frame. The information can then be used by operators to improve processes and address problems resulting from too much residual meat left on the frame, which compromises poultry deboning lines.
Infrared light passing through the meat is used to achieve a direct relationship between the transmitted intensity (brightness) and thickness of the meat to calculate within seconds the residual meat left on the front-half of the frame. It also identifies where the residual meat is located on the left versus the right side of the frame.

The machine can highlight results during analysis, enabling line supervisors to gain insights on immediate process optimization and workers to get instant feedback on their performance. The emphasis on actionable data for the plant allows for marked improvement in the percentage of meat left on frames.
The machine has an optional large, enclosed monitor and stand for setting it up in plain view of operators.
Processors can standardize the method of analysis used with a standard QC instrument to ensure effective and consistent evaluation of deboning processes from line to line and plant to plant. This can also enable a comparative evaluation of workers on manual deboning teams and immediate action of yield and product quality issues affecting automated deboning lines.
US-based Gainco manufactures yield enhancement and tracking systems and equipment for poultry, meat, and other food processing operations.
