LEADING probiotic manufacturer Ganeden has recently entered into a partnership with Georgia Nut, one of the largest contract manufacturers of confections and snacks in North America, to deliver healthy snacking options.
The partnership will leverage the booming market for healthy snacks. Global consumer spending on snack foods between 2013 and 2014 reached $374 billion annually for a 2% YoY growth, according to a new report from Neilsen. Snack foods with greater health benefits and taste are positioned much better in the highly competitive market. Snack food sales in the United States alone rose by nearly 30% from 2007 through 2012, according to Mintel.
An emerging trend points to snacks being used as mini meals that can be enjoyed on-the-go in response to busy lifestyles as opposed to the traditional snacking of in-between meals.
“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Georgia Nut,” said Ganeden sales director Joe Bradley. “With a shared commitment to innovative product development, Georgia Nut and Ganeden will be working together by leveraging the processing and packaging capability of Georgia Nut, and the significant probiotic expertise of Ganeden; to create fresh, on-trend probiotic product concepts, by means of novel delivery systems.”
According to Georgia Nut Sales and Marketing vice president Kurt Thorsen, “Georgia Nut is truly excited to unite with such a preeminent player in the probiotic industry. We see this alignment as a real value to the industry and our mutual customer base as we collaborate to create innovative, delicious, and functional snacks and confections.”
