GCC accounts 10% of the global aluminium output

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is estimated to have already invested around Dhs17.3 billion (US$4.7 billion) into aluminium projects, with member states collectively producing around 3.6 million tonnes of the commodity a year to account for almost 10% of the world’s total aluminium output.

Production is expected to surge to 9 million tonnes per year to account for between 15 and 17% of global output, as regional investments into the aluminium sector steadily climb to a projected Dhs55 b illion (US$14. 9 billion) in 2022.
