GEA Process Engineering has built a complete process plant for Dairy Goat Co-operative (DGC) in Hamilton, New Zealand.

The facility, which produces 2.3 tons of highly formulated infant formula and 2.7 tons of formulated base powders and goat milk powder per hour, is designed to boost product quality while reducing energy and water usage.
According to Brent Prankerd, general manager Manufacturing for DGC, “GEA has worked very collaboratively with DGC to design a flexible plant that meets the high standards required of an infant formula facility. We are pleased with the functionality and quality of the plant installed and the quality of the product being produced on the new drying facility.”
GEA Process Engineering and Dairy Goat Co-operative have established a long-term partnership ever since the former built DGC’s original infant formula drying plant in Hamilton in 2003. The project was completed in less than 12 months despite the challenges posed by a tailored design.
“We have had a very good relationship with DGC for a long time,” said GEA Process Engineering business development engineer Barry Cole.
“By working closely together we have been able to include innovations at the Hamilton site, many of which have not been seen before in New Zealand. We are all delighted with the outcome,” Mr. Cole added.
